Local Dialogue hosts town planning fringe at party conferences

Local Dialogue joined forces with the Royal Town Planning Institute to host a series of planning-focused events at the recent round of party political conferences.

The fringe events at the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat conferences were a prime opportunity to engage with key political influencers, senior members of local government and think tanks.

Local Dialogue’s senior partners spoke at each of the events, highlighting the opportunities and challenges of imminent changes to the planning process.

Mark Brown, Partner at Local Dialogue, said: “With the Localism Bill and the National Planning Policy Framework progressing through Government, it is clear that we are about to face the largest overhaul of the planning system in the UK for many years.

“Local communities will have a greater voice in determining the development of their neighbourhoods and developers are promised a quicker, more efficient planning process.

“These developments will make effective engagement with local communities more important than ever for developers, so a thorough understanding of the new processes, expertise in engagement and solid relationships with decision-makers are vital.

“Organising and participating in these events helps to keep us at the forefront of our field, so our clients can be assured of the value of our expertise.”
